"...I was really impressed with the organization of everything, had a lot of fun, learned about birch bark sunglasses, and got to hang out with a cool dog (I love dogs), and a cool guide; so that was the highlight for me." - Leslie Plant, Markham

CEO and Founder - Lunatic Adventures Inc and The LUNA Project
David Masters is not just your typical wilderness guide. Born in rural southern Ontario, David found delight in the forests, meadows, and creeks of his family's farm. In 1992 David studied Parks and forest recreation at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Lindsey, Ontario. After a bit of soul searching and two years of college behind him, David accepted a brokerage position with his families Toronto based company. Eight years later in May of 2002 an unexpected diagnosis of Cancer was delivered to David's father Bill, it was then that David realized that it was time to step out on his own and create a new pathway towards a more naturally connected life. In November of that year David created a unique wilderness guiding company called Lunatic Adventures Inc. As Bills health further deteriorated in 2005, David knew once again that he must push forward and make another drastic change. He sold all of his worldly belongings, including his home in Toronto, and built an off grid yurt in the forest near his family's farm to help care for his ailing father. The attention generated by David's radical life change, soon led to the creation of The LUNA Project, an alternative learning centre, where David along with his guides and educators can be found leading others toward creating their own unique natural connections.
Since Bills passing in 2006, David and his guides have turned The LUNA Project into a thriving year round business. David can still be found guiding in the wilds of Temagami, Algonquin, Killarney, and up great northern rivers towards James Bay, but he also reserves plenty of time to lead engaging discussions and lectures through National Parks, Trade Shows, Universities, and a host of media avenues. Through the platform of The LUNA Project, the adventures that David leads are not just wilderness adventures for corporate groups, students, and families, but are stepping stones that David and his guides utilize to help bridge strong natural connections in a modern world that could use a little helping hand.

Crystal is an avid outdoors person with a love for travelling, education, and healthy living. People-powered tripping is her passion. She has participated in winter and summer camping trips since childhood, most recently co-leading canoe trips for UOIT (University of Ontario Institute of Technology), McMaster University, and working as a program facilitator at the Bark Lake Leadership Centre. Through education, Crystal believes that students should feel inspired and empowered to participate in the community at large. Finding inspiration in the out-of-doors is an every day experience for her at The LUNA Project where Learning Unique Natural Alternatives is the name of the game.

Office Manager - The LUNA Project
Sheila grew up with easy access to nature, finding lots of fuel for the imagination in the thickets, ponds, and orchards of the overgrown farm fields behind her childhood home. Taking the resulting respect for the natural world into adulthood, she has coordinated two pollution prevention programs, Trout Unlimited Canada's Yellow Fish Road, and the Recycling Council of Ontario's Take Back the Light. She is happy to support opportunities for young people to spend time decompressing outdoors at LUNA.

Farming Operations and Foods Coordinator - The LUNA Project
What began as a career in computer support has evolved over the years to work that has become more meaningful to Cheryl. The journey has included such stops as working with an Earthwatch group in Temagami as the camp cook and spending time at a native plant nursery and various garden centres. Having recently been fortunate to live on some farmland outside of Sarnia, Cheryl has been able to pursue her passion for vegetable and flower gardening. Never one to start a project small, her first vegetable garden included 50 varieties of tomatoes.
You can often find her out weeding in her garden and possibly munching on some of the weeds. She enjoys walking through the woods and learning about nature. Loving the 4 seasons that Canada brings, Cheryl spends as much time as possible outside hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing, biking and of course taking pictures. We're happy to have Cheryl as part of the growing family at LUNA
